Music in the Library: Andy Salvanos

City Library

Andy RM by Paul 1

Join us at City Library and listen to this month’s musician: Andy Salvanos.

An iconic performer in Adelaide’s Rundle Mall for many years, Chapman Stick player Andy Salvanos built a global audience through busking and selling CDs on the streets of Australia. In recent years he has enjoyed a steadily growing listener base online, resulting in millions of streams on Spotify and other digital platforms.

Swedish-born Salvanos has also been a regular at events such as Adelaide Guitar Festival, The National Folk Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, and worked as a bassist with Archie Roach on "The Tracker" soundtrack. In a world of sound-alikes, Andy's instrumental music occupies its own lush, harmonic space, which can be heard in a number of local and international films, such as the French 2014 documentary "The Chookman". His original pieces range from simple melodic themes to layered soundscapes.

Andy's latest releases include the haunting single "Ice Fishing Alone", and a number of collaborations with artists from around the world. He is passionate about making music accessible to everyone, and continues to perform live as much as possible, including streaming on his Facebook page.
