Running loops

No matter what your level of fitness is, there will be a running loop to suit you. There are six loops to choose from surrounding the beautiful River Torrens / Karrawirra.

  • Torrens Weir loop - 2.5km
  • Riverbank loop - 0.5km
  • Frome Road loop - 0.8km
  • Red Gum Forest loop - 1.9km
  • University Footbridge loop - 1.0km
  • All loops (Weir return) - 2.2km

One very popular running circuit in the city is the Uni Loop located between Mackinnon Parade and War Memorial Drive. This is an unsealed circuit, that is tree lined and contains distance markers every 200 metres to keep you on track.

  • University Loop - 2.2km

Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi also has running loops and fitness facilities. This unsealed circuit loop is a great place for a run or walks within the large open expanses. The circuit features a series of fitness stations containing outdoor fitness equipment to ensure a full body workout. A linear fitness trail with multiple exercise elements is also provided along the Park Lands Trail in the north-west area of the park.

Running and walking groups

Where better to get the heart pumping than in the stunning Adelaide Park Lands? There are several running groups and events in the city each week that provide runners with an opportunity to build week on week to achieve their personal best time.

Many of the groups are organised by enthusiastic volunteers who have created a tight-knit running community who are successful in encouraging one another and warmly welcoming new runners.

Join your local walking group and discover the benefits of walking.

Heart Foundation Walking offers many types of walking groups all over Australia and is for everyone regardless of age, fitness level, and location. To start walking, find a group in the City of Adelaide or start your own group and become a volunteer Walk Organiser. It is fun and easy - you only need one other walker to start a group.
