Whether you're riding your bike, catching public transport or driving in, use our guide to plan your visit to the 2019 Adelaide New Year's Eve event.

Ride your bike

Bike riders can park their bikes in special bike-rack stations located throughout the event grounds. 

Public transport

Adelaide Metro will be offering free public transport in and out of the city all day New Year's Eve until approximately 6 am the following morning. Free transport will be available on trams, trains and buses. You could even drive part of the way and catch public transport from a Park ‘n’ Ride location for the rest of the trip. Parking in the city

UPark has a number of car parks that are within walking distance of the Adelaide Riverbank, including UPark on Topham, UPark on Gawler Place and UPark on Light Square. For guaranteed parking book online at least 30 minutes in advance at UPark to find out more.

If you own an electric vehicle and are considering driving in, UPark Wyatt, UPark Topham and UPark Rundle all house electric vehicle charging stations. The first hour of charging is free!

Another option if you need to drive in is to car pool. Find out if any of your friends are heading into the city and share the festive fun by travelling in together.

Road closures

For the safety of visitors attending and the ease of getting in to our New Year's Eve event the following road closures will take place from Tuesday 31 December 2019 to Wednesday 1 January 2020.


King William Road between North Terrace and War Memorial Drive
and King William Street between Currie Street and North Terrace

Please note that there are other road closures proposed for the same date and time as this event, being a temporary closure of, War Memorial Drive and Pennington Terrace to facilitate the KFC Big Bash League held at Adelaide Oval.

A passenger pick-up and drop-off zone will be installed on the southern side of Victoria Drive, east of the entrance into Torren’s Parade Grounds from 3 pm. This is located just inside the road closure at the corner of Kintore and Victoria Drive. Vehicles with the appropriate permit will be permitted through the closure for drop-off and pick-up.

Accessible Parking will also be available in Torrens Parade Ground. Disability Parking Permits will be required to access these parking spaces through the road closure.
