What's happening for Adelaide's NYE 2020?

The City of Adelaide will this year present a different New Year’s Eve offering to celebrate the new year and say farewell to 2020. Instead of the large event in Elder Park, the experience will be spread throughout the city and North Adelaide, ensuring more areas of the city can be a part of the festivities.

The City of Adelaide’s New Year’s Eve 2020 event will be a city-wide celebration of music, food and culture.

The streets will feature live music and street performances with a midnight fireworks display hitting the sky from various locations around the city.

Celebrating New Year’s Eve in the city or North Adelaide provides a perfect opportunity to explore the numerous small bars, enjoy a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants, shop at the Central Market and enjoy a picnic in the Park Lands or even make a night of it and stay in a hotel.

The City of Adelaide’s #MyAdelaide Staycation campaign provides a range of special offers designed to encourage locals to treat themselves and enjoy a holiday in their hometown while supporting the tourism and hospitality industries. Keep an eye out for special December offers to be added next month cityofadelaide.com.au/staycation.

What does this mean for city businesses?

City businesses will be supported to increase their outdoor seating areas on footpaths and roads and to host creative activities to bring the city to life on New Year’s Eve. If you own a hospitality business in the city and would like more information about the support on offer, please email us at [email protected].

THE DECISION NOT TO HOLD A PUBLIC EVENT IN ELDER PARK FOLLOWED ONGOING CONSULTATION WITH SA HEALTH AND SAPOL AND A DETAILED RISK PROFILE OF THE EVENT IN RELATION TO COVID-19. AS WITH MANY EVENTS NATIONALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY, THE HEALTH AND SAFETY RISKS OF HOLDING A LARGE PUBLIC EVENT HAVE BEEN CAREFULLY CONSIDERED AND ARE DEEMED TOO HIGH.
