AVCon Anime & Video Games Festival

The anime and videogaming community come together once a year for a spectacular three-day event of gaming competitions, cosplay showcases and anime screenings. The non-for-profit event brings some of the biggest names of the industry to Adelaide. Aside from global guests, the event also shines a spotlight on independent and grass-roots developers and artists.

The event is held in early July at Adelaide Convention Centre.

Attendees can explore the large network of stalls containing stores, cafes and displays. Stallholders range from established brands selling pop culture merch, to the local creatives in Artist Alley selling unique prints and handcrafted items.

A full program is made available in the months before the event with stall map, performance timetable, competition schedule and details of the coveted auction.

The event was started in 2002 by two passionate University student clubs. The event has grown from a small-scale event to become a key fixture on the state’s festival calendar. It now welcomes more than 18,000 visitors each year.

The City of Adelaide is a proud supporter of AvCon and of Adelaide’s artistic and creative communities.
