Space Between, Memorial to Forced Adoptions

Christine Cholewa and Deb Jones, CHEB Art and Design

Commissioned by Relationship Australian the Space Between recognises past forced adoptions in South Australia with the aim convey the grief and loss of forced adoption. The black granite acts as a metaphor for the gravity of the separation of forced adoption. The Space Between provides a community space for people affected by these practices a place to meet, support each other, to feel strong and to heal. The monument is located in Grundy Gardens on the bans of the River Torrens, near University Footbridge.
