Part of the River Torrens Sculpture Park commissioned in 1994 by Foundation SA (now Arts SA). The River Torrens Sculpture Park The artworks in this area were commissioned in 1994 by Foundation SA (now Arts SA) using a range of South Australian artists. The sculptures respond to the bushland setting and the linear nature of this part of the Park Lands with the parallel elements of river and paths. The sculptures provide an interesting contrast with the 19th century layout of the Park Lands in which they sit. The artworks overlook the River Torrens / Karrawirra Pari which means “Redgum Forest River” in the Kaurna language. The entrance point of the River Torrens Sculpture Park, Co-ordinate #1: You are here by Steven Giles is a granite and slate sculpture is a place for contemplation overlooking the other artworks.
