'Hotel Closes After 88 Years
The Prince Alfred Hotel King William street: closed on Tuesday night for the last time after 88 years as a licensed premises. Work began yesterday on conversion of the premises into offices for City Council staff. The only bar open on Tuesday was the saloon and the licensee, Mr. Eric Fletcher, farewelled his customers with free drinks.''
