The Old Colonist Hotel, north-east corner of Angas Street and Chancery Lane. Established in 1860 as the Sussex Hotel. Known as the Old Colonist from 1864 to 1951 when it changed it's name to the Hotel Angas. It was delicensed in 1986. The building survives and is used for offices.

"Fire in the City.
Traceable to Fireworks.
This morning, at about 9 o'clock, a fire took place in a bedroom at the Old Colonist Hotel, Angas-street. A quantity of bedding, some ladies' dresses, and some bedroom furniture was destroyed, to the value of about £23. The Acting City Coroner (Mr. J. Nicholson, J.P.), made enquiries, and found that some boys had been letting off fireworks in the neighbourhood, and that a spark from them had probably ignited the curtains. The Coroner deemed an inquest unnecessary."
