Buck's Head Hotel, North Terrace, 1941

Established, on the south-west corner of North Terrace and Gray Street, as the Dolphin Inn in 1848 on the the site where the Nelson's Head Inn had previously stood. Became the Buck's Head in 1849 and was demolished in 1965. According to a researcher, in the 1950's publican Ern Fahey registered the first hotel smorgasbord from there. It is reported that the Buck's Head also had one of the first hotel dance floors in South Australia.

'MEMBERS of the Tall Girls' Club held their biggest meeting since the club was formed in July at the Buck's Head Hotel last night. Twenty-five girls over 5 ft. 9 in. have joined the club and their aim is to get manufacturers to make clothing suitable for girls of their height....'
