138 Pirie Street, north-west corner of Hindmarsh Square and Pirie Street. The hotel existed from 1851 to 1988 when the building was demolished.

"BURGLAR WITH RUBBER SOLES
Constable Renfrey caught a burglar who was wearing india rubber-soled boots as he was leaving the Hindmarsh Hotel in Pirie-street at half past 2 o'clock this morning. The man had in his possession when arrested three boxes of cigarettes, each containing 120 packets, six boxes of cigars, and two bottles of spirits."
