Did you know that the word ‘vegetarian’ was the third most googled word in Australia in 2016, and that in 2018 ‘vegan’ was googled more than vegetarian? Such is the rise in popularity for the vegan lifestyle. Well google no more, as we’ve put together a list of great vegetarian and vegan dining in Adelaide.
Vego & Love’n It
Long before smoothies and poke bowls were a thing, Vego & Love’n It was doing their thing; serving simple and delicious vegetarian and vegan food to their legion of Adelaide fans. It’s hidden up a flight of narrow stairs on Rundle Street, so best to book in advance. The quirky décor will keep you entertained too!
Two Bit Villains
Another legendary Adelaide vegetarian and vegan eatery is Two Bit Villains located in the Grand Ballroom of the historic Adelaide Arcade. Known for its American diner vibe, with names like ‘Nachos, nachos man’ and ‘Long arm of the slaw’, you’ll want to try the whole menu.
Ayla’s Café and Zenhouse Yum Cha
Located just off Rundle Street, in Bent Street, you’ll find the family-friendly Ayla’s Cafe. Gluten-free options are available.
Asian inspired Zenhouse Yum Cha is right next door and features an amazing range of teas from around the globe to compliment your meal.

Vego Sizzle
Another vegan and vegetarian place that is open for dinner (Friday and Saturdays until 10:30 pm), Vego Sizzle on King William Street has a 100% plant-based menu. The place is small, but the menu is huge, so arrive early as it will take you awhile to decide what to order!

With many vegetarian or vegan options on the menu, it’s the whole earth approach at The Footprint Experience that will impress you most. Open for breakfast and lunch, all ingredients are ethically sourced locally, and the food is prepared with minimal impact on the environment.
